The table-turning U.S. President, Donald Trump, is reported to have ridiculed the legendary best-picture Oscar win for Parasite, a South Korean film.
This happened on Thursday. Trump said at the campaign rally in Colorado Springs he wished for Gone with the Wind”, Hollywood classics in 1939, to return.
He had asked at the campaign rally, how bad were the Academy Awards this year?
The President comically mimicked one of the Academy Awards presenter. He said, And the winner is a movie from South Korea. He added, What the hell was that all about? Weve got enough problems with South Korea, with trade. “And after all that”, he asked, They give them best movie of the year?
Can we get Gone With the Wind back, please?
The President said to thousands of supporters, referring to the film that has to do with the Civil War-era South that was awarded the best-picture Oscar eight decades ago.
Parasite, which is nothing but a dark social satire that portrays the gap between poor and rich in modern Seoul, was announced earlier this month, the first non-English Language film to clinch Hollywoods top prize. Aside this, Parasite has also been awarded three other Oscars best international feature film and Bong Joon Hos best director and original screenplay.
The U.S. President had also reportedly dismissed actor Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt won an Oscar for best-supporting actor for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Comparing the award with Trump’s Senate impeachment trial, Pitt mentioned that in accepting the award, he had more time to speak, 45 seconds than John Bolton, former National Security Adviser.
Trump had said of Pitt, I was never a big fan of his. He’s a little wise guy.
Trumps four-day Western U.S. swing has been occasioned with another harsh review, but this time around, it was about Wednesday nights Democratic presidential debate.
He had particularly critiqued the performance of Michael Bloomberg, a former New York Mayor. Trump, said Mike had a ragged night.
Here’s what Trump actually said, I was going to send him a note saying: “Its not easy doing what I do, is it?
Its not easy, Mike. Its not easy for any of them, speaking of the contenders for the Democratic nomination. He asked them to face him in the election coming up in November.
